It is our instinct to avoid feelings that make us uncomfortable. Fear and anxiety might stay for a brief period of time and then disappear, but they can also endure much longer and stick with you. They can take over your life in certain situations, impairing your ability to eat, sleep, concentrate, enjoy life, or even leave the house or go to work. This can prevent you from accomplishing activities you wish to do and has a negative impact on your health.

Some people get paralysed by fear and avoid circumstances that make them uneasy or fearful. When anxiety becomes a crippling condition that causes you to cower and feel ill, don't try to ignore it. Learn how to deal with anxiety and fear. It might be difficult to overcome, but there are several ways.

1. Know Your Fear

Try to discover more about your anxiety or fear. Keep an anxiety diary or thinking record to document when and what happens. You may also try creating modest, attainable objectives for confronting your anxieties. You may carry a list of items that will aid you in times when you are likely to get scared or nervous. This can be a useful method for addressing the underlying cause of your anxieties and fear.

2. Use your Imagination in Positive Ways

Fear leads us to notice and recall bad experiences, reinforcing our perception that the world is a frightening place. We may try to alter this by consciously identifying what is good, such as the delight we experience when we meet someone we care about, the pleasure of a bright day, the beauty in nature, the fun of an outing, or the humour in a situation. The tranquillity you feel in your imagination can help you through the unpleasant times more peacefully.

3. Exercise

Increase your physical activity. Exercise demands focus, which might distract you from your fear and worry. Exercise is healthy for you and will centre you and make you feel more competent, whether you go for a simple stroll, travel to a boxing gym for an all-out sweat session, or tune in to our virtual fitness classes at home, it will help you feel in control of your mind and body.

4. Focus on your breathing

Fear and anxiety may have an impact on how you breathe, which in turn affects how your body and mind feel. A few deep breaths can assist you to slow your respiration and heart rate, relax your muscles, and quiet your thoughts. We would recommend a few deep breathing techniques, such as '' box breathing, '' which is one of the most efficient strategies to activate the relaxation response by lowering the heart rate. You can practice this simple breathing exercise as shown in the GIF below.

5. Get Support

Fear might sometimes make us feel estranged from others. We are more confident in our ability to deal with problems when we have the support of others. Friends and relatives can assist us in making an accurate evaluation of the hazard. Asking those who have dealt with anxiety can teach you a lot about how to deal with it. Local support groups or self-help groups bring together people who have had similar experiences so that they may hear one other's stories, discuss advice, and encourage one another to try new methods of managing it by themselves.
