Holi, the festival of colours. It channelizes our emotions and expresses our feelings through colours. The place becomes an expression of rainbows, and we enjoy spraying colours and water on each other. This makes playing Holi itself an enjoyable event.

Now, as the 2nd corona wave approaches us most of us won't be able to celebrate it as we do every year. Strict social distancing is to be followed to protect ourselves from the virus. We understand you might be feeling low and unhappy as you’re missing out on the festival but don’t worry!! We’ve got you.

This year let's try to change our perspective of how to celebrate holi. First, Accept the fact that we will not be able to run around playing with colours with the people in our neighbourhood and then slowly shift focus towards how you would take this opportunity and make the best out of this situation. Below are a few ways you can celebrate an updated version of holi this year.

  1. Spend Time with Family

You can always have a good time celebrating with the existing people at your home. Go for a few herbal colours and avoid synthetic ones as they harm your skin and hair. Get those colours in hand and bring out the joy and playfulness in you. It is important to know that the usage of colour during Holi has psychological benefits as when we see bright colours, it becomes a catalyst. The brain is fed with happy emotions. As bright colours represent our inner brightness and happiness, thus making us happier.

  1. Food as happiness

During the Holi season, we make and serve a lot of sweets. Sweets add to our emotions and feelings, making a person feel happy. There is always a relationship between good carbs and mood, hence consumption of sweets releases happy chemicals in our brain. Good food makes a person be more relaxed and keeps them in a good mood. It is completely Ok to indulge in consumption of sweets and other food during festivities. Enjoy it guilt free 🙂

  1. A lot of exercise

We all know doing exercise keeps the body healthy and the mind at peace. During this festive season, there is a lot of running, jumping, falling etc, which counts as a lot of exercises. All this exercise keeps you fresh and active, which in general keeps the body and mind healthy. So, workout at home and perform a few exercises to help lift your mood and health, once you’re done with the workout your body automatically is tired, and a good sleep after all the activity makes you ready for next morning.

  1. Play music all day

Any party is incomplete without chartbuster Hindi songs. So, dancing on your favourite 'Rang Barse' or 'Holi Khele' will keep you in a full Holi mood. 🙂 Make a list of special Holi numbers and you are good to go!

  1. Craft a few party accessories

Get hold of some cool and catchy accessories like oversize eyeshades, moustaches and cool message boards to pose with. Your Holi clicks will rock your social networking timeline, for sure.

Celebrate the festival with your near and dear ones, make sure all our family members have been tested negative and follow medical quarantine norms, as prescribed by the respective doctors, wash your hands, face regularly and you’re good to go.  Let this festival give a pleasant memory to all. A very Happy Holi to you and your Family 🙂
